Item Description :
This is a vintage Japanese pottery vase of Bizen Ware, which was
made by a great potter, the 1st Toko Konishi (Tozo Konishi )(1947-)
which was made about 40 years ago.
He is a great potter, who was designated as a
Human Intangible Cultural Treasure of Bizen city, Okayama prefecture, Japan in 2013.
This vase was made with a lot of firewoods in hole kiln, and a part of the surface is covered with natural glaze created with ash.
The signature of the potter is carved on the bottom.
Bizen ware is a type of Japanese pottery most identifiable by its ironlike hardness, reddish brown color, absence of glaze, and marklings resulting from wood-burning kiln firing.
