Description
This plate was made exclusively for the Union Pacific RR by Syracuse China. It appears to have been made in 1938. Each piece of this beautiful pattern was handpainted and was used in the 1930's on only one train in the Union Pacific system, The Columbine, which ran between Chicago and Denver. It is a thinner grade of china for what must have been an elegant dining car setting. There are no chips or cracks and light to moderate utensil marks which does not affect the brightness of the plate. Please note. This is old commercial grade china as used by railroads, steamship lines, etc., not fine china. There may be in this kind of china tiny dark flecks, pits, etc. This kind of china saw service at least once a day almost year round. I will describe and photograph to the best of my ability any flaws such as chips, cracks, stains or excessive utensil wear. But please examine my photos and my description carefully before bidding.
