Description
REID NEWFOUNDLAND COMPANY SILVERPLATED CONDIMENT SERVER-NRThis unusual silverplated condiment server was made for the Reid Newfoundland Company, which operated the Newfoundland Railway from 1901 to 1923. It was made by James Deakin & Sons of Sheffield. It has a pepper shaker, a salt dish with a glass liner (to prevent the salt from corroding the silver), and a third holder for what seems to be mustard. The piece measures 4-3/4” tall to the top of the handle. It is in excellent condition overall; the lid of the pepper shaker on close inspection shows sounds scratches from aggressive cleaning. Rare item. Buyer pays .00 shipping. NO RESERVE If you are interested in railroad dining car items, be sure to check out my book “Silver in the Diner,” a guide to dining car silverware. The book has a wealth of information on the history of dining service on American railroads. See www.silverinthediner.com.
