Description
Unusual and rare monumental antique giltwood King Solomon's Temple/Knights Templar ceremonial (Boaz and Jachin) Masonic Columns with globes in beautiful antique condition! From an old mason's lodge, and date to the early part (circa 1910) of the 20th century.Exquisite craftsmanship with stepped bases, fluted columns with beaded capitals, metal lotus petal foliate crests and surmounted by globes. One globe is of the world (representing the earth) and the other is cosmic/astral (representing the heavens and the divine). 90" in height with bases that measure 18" by 18". In Freemasonry/The Illuminati, certain numerals (numerology) have significance. 9+0=9 and 1+8=9; In masonic language, the number 9 is frequently expressed as "three times three" denoting the Trinity and 33 degrees. The number 9 also represents completion, perfection and the Royal Arch Degree, which is the completion of Freemasonry.
Very nice antique condition with age related wear. Minor scuffs and dings primarily to the bottom edges of the bases, which are constructed of solid (gilt) wood. Possible age related toning to the earth and astral globes. The fluted columns appear to be gilded plaster gesso over wood; The beaded capitals are made of solid wood gilded beads. Overall, in excellent condition for being over 100 years old!
