    GERMANTOWN RUG
    Antique Navajo / Circa 1880 to 1905

    DESCRIPTION:
    Navajo Germantown Rugs were made over a relatively short period of time when the early Trading Posts supplied wool yarn to the Navajo weavers from Germantown, PA. These were some of the earliest Navajo weavings made for sale by the trading posts starting in the mid 1870s and ending about 1905. This detailed Germantown rug is a little larger than the popular Germantown Samplers has an intricate and interesting design using 4 colors including green, blue, yellow, white and brown. These weavings are true antiques being well over 100 years old (more like 120 years). Because of their age and short history Germantown Navajo weavings are quite rare and very collectable.
    CONDITION:
    This rug is in very good condition for its age and shows well. The rug has a little loss of the bottom fringe and few missing stitches that are hard to see in phots but are visible in the last photo in the white triangle just above center
