    Description

this is an amazing antique bronze Japanese vase, most likely Meiji period, approximately 11.5 inches tall &  4.5 inches in diameter at the widest part, 2.5 inches in diameter at its narrowest parts.
this vase is large-a solid, heavy cast piece, around 5 lbs or so.  it has a neat pheasant (or rooster?) design done in a relief style. the pheasant is so interesting-parts of it are carved in a most detailed, realistic way-the head, legs & tail.  and then the body seems much more cartoon-like with few details, just outlines.  the eye has been either inlaid or painted with gold.  such a cool piece!!
there are condition issues-various stains, marks, scratches, etc.  it looks like at one point there was tape!?!? put on it, which left a stain or residue.  but despite these issues, it's beautiful & unique.  I love the form of this vase, the beveled top & the unique pheasant design.  could not find any signatures or stamps on it.
thanks for looking! make me an offer! :)
